ESSEX COUNTY, N.J. (CAP) - Even as President Obama delivered his victory speech to supporters in Chicago, residents in storm-ravaged New Jersey continued to cast ballots, saying the race isn't over until the fat governor sings.
"I'm waiting until Friday to email my vote in," said one 72-year-old Freehold resident. "If Obama hasn't turned this country around by then, I'm voting for Mitt."
Romney applauded New Jersey's gumption, pointing out that between the Garden State's extended voting and recounts in Florida, there are still electoral votes up for grabs.
"Never underestimate the ingenuity of American math," Romney told the crowd at his Boston headquarters. "We used creative math in Massachusetts when I was governor, and we'll use it again to make sure every vote counts.
"The American people need a leader who will carry the one!" he added to raucous cheers.
For his part, Obama said he's grateful for the election victory, but asked the nation to be patient while he settles in, saying it's going to take a while to undo the mess created by his predecessor over the past four years.
