Lipnicki To Replace Rosie On "The View"

Lipnicki To Replace Rosie On 'The View'
Jonathan Lipnicki leans in for the obligatory pre-show kiss from Auntie Baba during a recent taping.

NEW YORK (CAP) - With Rosie O'Donnell leaving the show at the end of June, executive producer Barbara Walters announced today that "Jerry Maguire" star Jonathan Lipnicki will be joining the cast of The View, effective this fall.

"We could not be more excited to be having Jonathan join our team," said Walters. "He's a multi-faceted entertainer with style, charisma, and chutzpah! Most people only know him as the adorable Ray Boyd from Jerry Maguire, but he's proven himself ten-times over since that film - I mean, who could forget him as the hilarious George from the Stuart Little movies, or his riveting portrayal of Buzz Thompson on Dawson's Creek?

"When we found out Jonathan was available, I said, I must have him!" said Walters. "Umm, I meant, I said we must have him."

"Well, there's going to be a big void with Rosie leaving," added co-host Joy Behar, "and I mean that in more ways than one. I think that J-Lip will be a fantastic addition to the show. Much like Rosie, Jon is a talented comedian who's really into chicks, while at the same time harboring an unusual obsession with Tom Cruise. He's perfect!"

Co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck refused to comment. It has long been rumored in Hollywood that before she met her husband Tim, Hasselbeck (then Elisabeth Filarski) and Lipnicki were involved in a torrid love affair, but were unable to go public due to the lack of a workable "Bennifer" style nickname. "Lipnarski" scored very poorly in market testing conducted by Us Weekly magazine.

Reached for comment at his parent's Westlake Village, Calif. home, Lipnicki told CAP News, "Did you know the human head weighs eight pounds?"

Confused, CAP News asked Lipnicki for his reaction when he found out that he'd been named to join the cast of The View, to which Lipnicki responded, "Do you know that bees and dogs can smell fear?"

CAP News then tried once more to get a lucid response, to which Lipnicki replied, "Do you know that my next door neighbor has three rabbits?"

The fall season of The View kicks off on September 24 on ABC.
